THE army on Tuesday searched
the house of a Karbari or village head in Perachara Union under Khagrachari
district.
According to sources, at 3
p.m., a group of 15 soldiers from Khagrachari zone raided ‘Ek Nong Prokolpo
Gram’ (Project Village No. 1) and surrounded Shanti Bikash Chakma’s house.
Mr Chakma is the head of the
village, but he was not at home at the time.
The army men asked his two sons
about the whereabouts of the UPDF activists and when they said they did not
know, the soldiers threatened them with dire consequences.
The soldiers searched his house
but found nothing incriminating.
Then they went to Noresh
Chakma’s house, a UP member of Ward No. 5 and a neighbour of Shanti Bikash
Chakma, and asked the inmates about UPDF activists and then left for Project
Village No. 11.
