Settler attack on Jumma village in Ramgarh

A GROUP of Bengali settlers attacked a Jumma village in Ramgarh in Khagrachari district on Sunday night, according to local sources.

About sixty to seventy settlers from Khagrabil led by Doctor Mannan carried out the attack in the village of Lalchari Sadhu Para under Ramgarh Sadar Union at 11 p.m.

Vigilantes order Monti family to leave village

THE army-backed Nobyo Mukhosh Bahini vigilante group has given Monti Chakma’ family in Naniachar until 12 noon today to leave their village, after she had narrated her traumatic experience during a month long captivity.

‘NMB chief Tapan Jyoti Chakma alias Borma gave the order in a mobile call to her parents.’ a press release issued by UPDF said.

Borma threatened them with death if they defy his order, it added.

Two teenage boys, one man kidnapped in Baghaichari

THE army-backed JSS Reformist group kidnapped three people, including two teenage boys, from Baghaichari Sadar in Rangamati district on Friday.

A group of armed men belonging to the Reformists led by Dontu Chakma took Bishwa Kalyan Chakma, 16, son of Sumoti Chakma of Hazachari village, Sajek; Nishan Chakma, 17, son of Sunil Chakma of the same village and Ripon Chakma, 30, son of Hengotya Chakma of Rupokari village at 3 p.m. from Baghaichari town.

JSS Reformists, Settlers attacks Jumma students in Khagrachari

SIX Jummas were injured, one of them seriously, on Thursday in attacks on Higher Secondary Certificate examinees carried out separately by an army-backed JSS Reformist group and Bengali settlers in Khagrachari town.

The first attack by JSS Reformists took place at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Cantonment’s canteen as the Jumma students were returning home after attending an examination in Khagrachari Cantonment Public School and College.
