TWO
leaders of the Hill Students’ Council, popularly known by its Bengali acronym
PCP, were abducted by PCJSS-Reformist group at gun point from a medical centre
in Khagrachari town on Sunday.
Sohel
Chakma, president of PCP Khagrachari Sadar Upazila unit, and Jewel Chakma,
president of PCP Panchari Upazila unit, were receiving medical treatment at
Life Care Diagnostic Centre in the town when members of the PCJSS-Reformist
group abducted them.
A group
of 15-20 miscreants led by Dipon Chakma and Dipu Chakma entered the Xray room
of the Centre at 12:45 p.m. and took the PCP leaders away, said a PCP statement
issued to the media after the incident.
The
kidnappers used two motorbikes and a CNG auto rickshaw during the abduction,
and took the PCP leaders through Khagrachari bazar towards Khagrapur, near
Khagrachari army cantonment.
The PCP
blamed a faction of the PCJSS-Reformist group for the kidnapping and said, ‘the
abductors are being used as pawns by the army.’
It
urged the abductors to release the PCP leaders immediately without any harm.
