THE army-backed JSS Reformist group kidnapped
three people, including two teenage boys, from Baghaichari Sadar in Rangamati
district on Friday.
A group of armed men belonging to the
Reformists led by Dontu Chakma took Bishwa Kalyan Chakma, 16, son of Sumoti
Chakma of Hazachari village, Sajek; Nishan Chakma, 17, son of Sunil Chakma of
the same village and Ripon Chakma, 30, son of Hengotya Chakma of Rupokari
village at 3 p.m. from Baghaichari town.
Nishan Chakma’s mother Nirupa Chakma is
currently the president of Sajek Nari Samaj, a local women’s organisation which
has played an important role in resisting land grabbing and military oppression
in Sajek.
