Four villagers were
wounded after they were beaten by members of the JSS M. N. Larma faction,
popularly known as Reformist, in Betchari Christian Para under Khagrachari
Sadar Upzila on Thursday.
The victims have been
identified as former UP member Satyo Broto Chakma, Gulo Chakma, Rubel Chakma
and Rikumoni Chakma.
Two of them were
admitted to Khagrachari Sadar hospital with serious injuries.
According to
eyewitnesses’ accounts, some activists of the JSS (M. N. Larma faction) had
asked the victims to prepare lunch for them.
‘But the Reformist men
thought the foods were not to their taste and became angry and gave them an
earful for It.’ they said.
‘Later at 3:00 p. m.
the Reformists came dead drunk to Christian Para again and beat the four
villagers severely.’
Two JSS-Reformist
leaders – Suniti and Gorom babu – masterminded the attack, according to the
eyewitnesses.
